THE ORIGINS OF SOUL - TODAY MAGAZINE

Soul music is simply gospel without God. So it's not surprising that the great soul stars of the 1960s began as gospel singers. Many would argue, with justification, that the greatest soul music came out of Memphis and Philadelphia, but there is no doubt that the most successful version of the sound came from DETROIT, home of Berry Gordy's Motown Records.

In the 1960s the Supremes led by Dana Ross , became Motown's most successful commercial act. They rivalled the Beatles in popularity.

The Motown hit machine rolled into the 1970s with the arrival of family group The Jackson 5 and their charmismatic youg singer, Michael Jackson.

Here you can listen to the best Jackson 5 hit. I hope you enjoy it.

Here is a joke video created by APM. Its very funny. Lets laught a little!
